ouvvo is a steward - 'aquatic' squidlike aliens that run the hub and the vertex stations. ouvvo is about six earth years old.

she is something like a case worker and a manager combined into one - her job is, in short, to babysit the humans and make sure that they don't get into any trouble before full diplomatic relationship with Earth and humankind can be established. she's got some experience with managing aliens, having inherited a lot of 'relict' jobs from others, with maybe a dozen almost-extinct 'Cultures' she's responsible for.

handling two humans should be straightforward, and she might be able to pivot it into a senior position on a full human diplomacy team, which would lead to a full citizenship on the homeworld...

thing is, she is caught between many different factions, all trying to get access to the humans for various reasons - whether it's the mysterious, obviously not human-made spacecraft they came in on or getting a preemptive foot in the door for future earth diplomacy(or, maybe more nefarious motives), and has to do her best to not lose the great opportunity placed in front of her.
